The Project: Itaú Social Foundation’s Website Redesign

Client: Itaú Bank

Itaú Unibanco is a Brazilian publicly quoted bank with headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil. The bank is the result of the merger of Banco Itaú and Unibanco, which occurred on November 4, 2008 to form Itaú Unibanco Holding S.A, the largest financial conglomerate in the Southern Hemisphere. It is the 10th largest bank in the world by market value. The bank its listed at the B3 in São Paulo and in NYSE in New York. It currently is the biggest Latin American bank by assets and market capitalization.

Itaú Social develops, implements and shares social initiatives to contribute to the improvement of Brazilian public education. Its work involves the training of education professionals, the encouragement of civil society organizations and the conduct of research and evaluation. Together with a network of partners, suppliers and employees, it works for society to unite to deliver what is the right of everyone: access and permanence to a quality education for all, without restriction of time or space. The Design Problem:

  • Develop the New Information Architecture of the Foundation’s Website with the following premises:
    • User Experience best practices.
    • The needs and preferences of structure established through searches with real users.
    • The strategic objectives, technological and safety limits informed by the Bank.
  • Address the best solution in terms of Structure for the Information Architecture of the new Website within the shortest possible time.
  • Create the navigational strategy in order to ensure that the final interface is intuitive and that the user segments are able to locate all the contents and services with ease.
  • Align the new information structure with the communication, language and interaction pattern of the current user segments.
  • Ensure that Information Architecture replicates the Bank’s high-level communication strategies.
  • Ensure that all key stakeholders will be involved in the Information Architecture process.

My roles on the project:

As a UX Designer, I performed the following tasks:

  • Assistance in the user research processes and needs, questionnaires’ development, contextual interviews;
  • Collecting and analysis of user’s data;
  • Development of the new website Information architecture;
  • Development of the website’s flowcharts and conceptual model based on the user’s data;
  • Usability analysis of previous and similar systems;
  • Creating, planning and development of prototypes and wireframes for the new website;
